Getting Comfortable

With Not Knowing

You are here because you want to improve. No matter what stage of improving you are at, you want to improve.

I started at the lowest level. I started at rock bottom, where I would be doing nothing for days or falling back into the same routines. We all get into these slumps where it’s hard to be self-disciplined and have self-control because, frankly, that’s life. No matter your skill level, you’re not going to hide from the feeling of temptation.

Temptation will come, and it will get you to go back to your old habits. Temptation will arrive when you’ve slowly started to decline and are beginning to feel worse.

It hits you at the worst moments. It’s a siren.

The truth is that temptation always comes to you, but when you are in a flow, at your highest points, and in your sharpest moments of thinking, you don’t hear the siren.

However, when you slowly start to decline and fall into a slump, you hear the siren very loudly. And you fall for its trap because it’s explicit at that moment.

What you need to know is that it will never feel right. I tried to make plans for getting off my addiction to video games. And no matter how intricate your plans are, temptation will come, and that plan will serve you no purpose. It’s never going to feel pretty and cute to break out of a slump.

You have to just hack away at it. Stop making plans; they’re never going to work. If you need to do something, you need to just start. If you want to do something, you need to stop preparing your start and just start.

1. I still feel lost

When everyone has their plans for achieving autonomy and gaining their own sense of freedom, they think it has to align with their passion and doing that one thing they want to do. However, a reason a lot of people don’t start is that they don’t know what to do. People think they need to sacrifice time in the beginning to plan out what they want to do. They hear in books that they need to take the time to figure out exactly what they want their brand to be by making sure it aligns with their purpose and passion.

However, this is not the way I should be thinking, as, still to this day, I always feel lost.

I sacrificed the time to figure out what I wanted to do, and yet I still end up feeling lost at times and questioning whether this path is worth it.

What you must do is find the way you want to live. Life isn’t enjoyable because of the title you have or what you say you are. Life is enjoyable because of the things that you do. You need to make sure that when you start, you make a list of the things you want to do and a list of ways to do these things in 5 minutes.

If you enjoy writing and want to make it a part of your lifestyle, write for 5 minutes a day.

If you enjoy exercise and want to make it a part of your lifestyle, exercise for 5 minutes and then stop.

If you enjoy playing sports, play for 5 minutes, then stop.

If you’re interested in any subject, do it for 5 minutes, then stop. This will make you feel like you are accustomed to a large variety of skills. And the ones you enjoy are the ones that you will spend 5 minutes doing every day.

The ones you don’t enjoy can simply be grown out of your schedule as you continue to build up the discipline to figure out how you want to create your day.

In short, there will always be times when you feel lost, and it feels like what you’re doing isn’t the right path. Because you’re scared of not knowing, you’ll go back to what’s comfortable. If you’re comfortable sitting and doing nothing, that is where you’ll find yourself.

But when you’re in a slump, the most important thing is getting back to something you’re comfortable with as soon as possible. The way to get comfortable with something quickly is by getting accustomed to it for a short amount of time. I know it’s hard to write when you don’t feel like it, but if you can do it, just that, for 5 minutes, you’ll start getting comfortable with being yourself again.
